DIMETHYL DISTEARYLAMMONIUM CHLORIDE is a light yellow solid that can be dispersed in warm water and dissolved in alcohol. Because it is positively charged, it can strongly adsorb on negatively charged surfaces such as hair and fabrics to achieve softness and antistatic effects. It is stable in neutral-weakly acidic systems and is mostly used in fabric softeners and conditioning products.
 
How It Works
Its long-chain quaternary ammonium salt molecular structure fits tightly to the surface of the matrix with the help of electrostatic interaction, gradually building a uniform and lubricating protective film. This film can effectively reduce the friction resistance between the surfaces of objects and inhibit the accumulation and migration of electrostatic charges.
 
Application and Performance
In actual formula design, it is recommended to control the addition amount in the range of 3% - 10% according to the product type and functional requirements. The processing stage needs to be heated appropriately to promote the dispersion and dissolution of the ingredients. Due to its cationic properties, it is necessary to avoid direct mixing with anionic ingredients to prevent charge interactions from causing precipitation, stratification and other problems.
The softener has good compatibility with non-ionic emulsifiers (such as Coco glucoside), esters, and various conditioning oils. With this advantage, it can be flexibly used in personal care and home care formulation systems to give the products the core functions of softness and antistatic properties. It is a practical and reliable functional raw material in formulation design.
