High-HLB Solubilizer with PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate CAS NO 9005 64 5
PEG-80 sorbitan laurate is a nonionic surfactant that follows the International Cosmetic Ingredient Nomenclature (INCI). It is mild and low-irritating, and can reduce the irritation of sulfate anionic surfactants. It is often used in infant cleansing and bathing products, and the recommended dosage is 5-30%.
General properties
Its chemical structure is formed by the addition reaction of sorbitan laurate (lipophilic skeleton) and 80 moles of ethylene oxide.
It is usually a yellow transparent liquid, easily soluble in polar solvents such as water and ethanol, partially soluble in oils and fats, with a slight characteristic odor, 1% aqueous solution pH 5.0-7.0, HLB value about 18-19.
Function in cosmetic products
In skin care products, it can emulsify and stabilize formulas and solubilize fat-soluble ingredients; in cleaning products, it can assist in cleaning oils, reduce irritation, and improve foaming. When used with
Emulsifier for cosmetics, it can enhance the effect; in makeup, it can help disperse powders or oils, improve ductility and stability; it is especially suitable for infant cleansing and bathing products.
Safety
According to safety assessment, it has no obvious irritation to the skin and mucous membranes at conventional concentrations (0.1%-5%). Avoid direct contact with the eyes. People with allergies should use it with caution. There are few adverse reactions under normal use.
Other information
Appearance is yellow transparent liquid, 2-4 green safety level, packaging 25kg/barrel.
Compared with similar products with low PEG chains, it has stronger hydrophilicity, is suitable for high water content formulas, has better solubilization and water phase compatibility, but has slightly lower oil dispersion efficiency.
