CYCLOPENTASILOXANE and DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER is a translucent viscous gel. The product is insoluble in water, but can be dispersed in silicone oil and remains stable in a wide range of ambient temperatures. Because its performance is not affected by the HLB value, it can be widely used in non-aqueous or low-water formulations. The recommended addition amount is usually 1%–20%, which can be adjusted according to the type of formulation and the desired skin feel.
Mechanism of Action
The silicone elastomer matrix is responsible for regulating viscosity and skin feel, while the volatile carrier evaporates quickly after application, leaving a flexible and non-greasy film. This enhances the initial skin feel and reduces shine without affecting the ductility of the product. The polymer structure helps to stabilize the suspended pigments or active ingredients and improve their uniformity of dispersion in the final formula. The system has good compatibility with a variety of oil phase ingredients and can be efficiently used in the development of emulsions and anhydrous formulations. As a silicone elastic gel for cosmetics, it combines functional properties and film-forming advantages, making the product better in terms of usage experience and effect.
Application and Performance
This product is widely used in primers, foundations, sunscreens and makeup, providing a smooth application feel, fast film-forming properties and soft-focus effects. In makeup, it helps improve pigment dispersion and makes concealer coverage more even; in skincare, it is particularly suitable for oil-control or combination skin formulas, providing a light and dry skin feel. In addition, it is also commonly used in hair care and body care products to meet the needs of light texture and low greasy feeling. Its film-forming properties can also enhance the water resistance of sunscreen and prolong the retention time of the product on the skin.
