How is GLYCERETH-26 Made?
Glycereth-26 is a high molecular weight nonionic polyether compound made by ethoxylation of glycerol and about 26 moles of ethylene oxide. The finished product is a transparent liquid with a slight characteristic odor. It has excellent water solubility and film-forming properties. Its polyol structure gives it excellent moisturizing power. It is a cosmetic raw material that combines performance and mildness.
Role in cosmetics
As a nonionic surfactant, it has moisturizing, conditioning, solubilizing, viscosity adjustment and lubrication functions. In skin care products, it reduces transepidermal water loss and enhances water retention by forming a flexible hydrated film; it has good compatibility with hyaluronic acid, ceramide, etc., and is suitable for complex emulsions and transparent systems. It is also suitable for cold processing formulas, protecting heat-sensitive ingredients and simplifying production. It has better stability when used with
Emulsifier for cosmetics.
Key Benefits
It is long-lasting and low-irritation, suitable for sensitive skin, can improve skin softness, reduce the friction of makeup, is compatible with various ingredients, stabilizes the formula in different environments, and maintains moisturizing effects even in low humidity.
Its high molecular weight and three-dimensional hydrophilic network can form a moisture reserve on the skin surface, continuously transport moisture and active ingredients, achieve long-lasting moisturizing and non-sticky in products such as creams and lotions, and improve product transparency and emulsification stability.
