Ceteareth-25 is a nonionic surfactant widely used in cosmetics and personal care products. It has a high HLB value (about 15-17) and is an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsifier pair. It has lipophilic and hydrophilic properties, which helps to achieve efficient and stable emulsification in the formula. Before leaving the factory, the product needs to pass multiple indicators such as appearance, odor, pH value, density and moisture to ensure that it meets the cosmetic quality standards. It is packaged in 20kg/bag to meet the needs of industrial applications.
General characteristics
Ceteareth-25 is a white flaky solid with a pure texture and is easy to crush and dissolve. It can be quickly dispersed in water to form a clear and transparent solution. It does not require complex pretreatment in the formulation application and is easy to operate. The raw material has good chemical stability. Even in acidic, alkaline or electrolyte environments, it is not easy to decompose or precipitate, and can maintain structural stability in a variety of systems. The recommended addition amount is 1-5%, which is a raw material choice with both performance and economy.
From a chemical perspective
The molecular structure of Ceteareth-25 consists of two parts: a lipophilic fatty alcohol segment and a hydrophilic polyoxyethylene segment. The fatty alcohol portion is derived from the mixture of cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol, ensuring that it can dissolve various oils well in the formula; while the polyoxyethylene (PEG-25) segment strengthens the affinity of the water phase, helps to form a directional arrangement at the oil-water interface, and reduces the interfacial tension. This structure enables it to stably wrap small droplets of the oil phase and generate a uniformly distributed emulsion.
Uses in cosmetics
Ceteareth-25 is suitable for multiple cosmetic formula scenarios: as a main emulsifier, it can be widely used in lotions, creams, hand creams and other products, and can stably disperse oil phase components such as vegetable oils and silicone oils, giving the finished product a delicate and smooth skin feel; when used with fatty alcohols (such as cetyl alcohol and cetearyl alcohol), it helps to increase the viscosity of the system; in cleaning products such as facial cleansers and shower gels, it can be used as a mild emulsifying cleaning ingredient to reduce dryness; whether it is basic skin care products or functional cleaning products, Ceteareth-25 is an important raw material for improving formula stability and user experience.
